**Qualifies as AFIS Designation Update** Farming, ranching, and agribusiness remain significant parts of the US economy. While the global marketplace represents a substantial economic opportunity for the agribusiness community, it is not without its risks. People all over the world are concerned about access to an abundant, safe food supply. Anyone in the food chain can be held responsible when food safety requirements are not met. This course covers five property insurance topics not covered in other AFIS courses: equipment breakdown insurance, mobile agricultural machinery and equipment insurance, livestock insurance, animal mortality insurance, and crop insurance.

This session is designed to aid the agent, whether he or she is the insurance professional to the farmer, farm manager, client risk manager or custom farmer. Regardless of whether you are filling the commercial insurance need or personal insurance need for your client, the competitive nature of the marketplace requires that you differentiate yourself. This presentation reminds the insurance professional of the vital position they fill in their relationship with the agri-farm client. Includes an in-depth discussion of the risk management process and the tools available to more efficiently identify exposures during the interview process (ie. Surveys, applications, questionnaires, research tools, etc.). Discussions of shortcomings in “base” coverage forms as well as endorsements available to fill these gaps will show how the properly prepared insurance professional can differentiate themselves from the average agent. Anyone can sell insurance. Only the prepared professional can make themselves a trusted advisor to the client.
